HyperLink HG2415U-PRO 2.4Ghz Omnidireccional 15dBi WIFI Antenna

Pictures are from these two forums :

www.lan23.ru and www.zero13wireless.net

First the antenna and diagram

What is happening inside :

Several dimensions :

But whit this last do not show us all – it cannot be used to build this antenna.

It looks like that this antenna have some strange internal parts – and its feeding point is on quite strange place.

dissasembled - tree sections of antenna

So there are tree interesting sections – middle, top and bottom.

This is TOP :

Next is Bottom :

bottomsection.jpgbottomtext.jpg

And Middle section :

middle-section.jpg

And here is the interesting part – in feed point is in the middle part of this antenna, a coax line travel trough all sections, from the connector to the “middle section” and center of the coax line is soldered to the tube which goes to the upper part of the antenna!

middle-section-feedpoint.jpg

I am not sure what is happening in the top section – russians says that this ring or piston inside is soldered to the small tube which goes out on the top – but even if it is this ring and center tube is not connected to outer big tube ?!?

Also in the bottom part this small ring is not soldered – maybe is used for tuning the antenna?

And on the all pictures seems that small inside sections tubes are smaller then small outside sections :

So How is madded this antenna? How it works ? What is happening inside ?

This pictures gives more questions than answers !

If anyone understand this antenna design – explain.

  2. vacarosie200 says:

    Each sector of the antenna needs to be 1/2 a wavelength long, multiplied by the velocity factor of the cable. The velocity factor of RG-213 is 0.66. If you decide to use a different cable (such as LMR-400), then you need to get the velocity factor of that cable (which will be different), and recalculate all the dimensions.

    V * C 0.66 * 299792458
    1/2 wavelength = —— = —————- = 0.0405m = 40.5mm
    2 * F 2 * 2441000000

    V = Velocity Factor of RG213 = 0.66
    C = Speed of light = 299792458
    F = Frequency of Signal = 2441000000 (mid point of 2.4Ghz range)
    The 1/4 wave element is not adjusted by the Velocity factor, as it is in the open, so it works out at just 31 mm long, giving a total antenna length of 355 mm + fly lead.

    All of the parts needed to make this antenna are available cheaply from either Maplin or any DIY shop. You need the following:

    1 meter RG-213U cable (available by the meter from Maplin). This is enough for two antennas. Buy more for whatever fly lead length you want.

    1 N connector. Depending on what you want to connect the antenna to, use either male or female connectors, and inline or bulkhead. Remember that inline connectors need to fit 10 mm diameter RG-213 cable.

    20 mm PVC conduit (available from any DIY store) It should have a 20 mm inside diameter, and 22 mm outside.

    22 mm pipe clips (depending on how you want to mount the antenna). Pipe clips make mounting the antenna easy.

    You also need the following standard tools.

    Millimeter ruler for measuring

    Junior hacksaw

    Stanley blade knife

    Pliers

    Standard soldering iron (you don’t need a heavy duty one) and solder

    Scraps of wood to make a jig to aid soldering

    Bench or vice to hold the cable while you cut it

    vacarosie200 : this антенна up is NOT simple coax antenna !
    I cutter miles of coax cable trying to make this you talking about – this types of coax antenna just NOT work for me.

    no I never build this antenna , its too complex and I do not have all dimensions.

    I think this antenna is two compiled antenna each other is contrary. one facing to to the and the other one again face downwards. later;then both this antenna use fed center. I try to make its scheme. but I am not yet sure I will try to make pursuant to picture of yg my scheme…sorry i cant speak english well…i’m indonesian

  11. almanaezalky says:

    well. its a good antenna. i’ve done it but fail. so i change the material from
    can by soldering it into a tube. and then rebuild that. Incredible performance. Maybe i’ll show the picture later. “sorry for my bad english”

  12. estqwerty says:

    please add more info and pictures.
    what materials did you change?
    thanks
